Time4Us Programme

Supporting children and young people affected by substance misuse in the family.

Are you working with a parent or child where alcohol or drugs are a problem in the family?

Children may be affected in many different ways.  They may:

  • miss out on an important parental relationship, which could affect their identity and other relationships
  • feel isolated, upset, worried or angry about their parent’s behaviour
  • blame themselves for not being able to help their parent or feel they are the cause of the problem

What is ‘Time4Us’?

The children and young people can:

  • Join BYCAS clubs and attend monthly outings.  (See page 3 of ‘Information for Practitioners’ booklet).
  • Get help to access local sport and leisure activities, giving them a chance to learn new skills and build their self-confidence.
  • Meet with our specialist staff and access counsellors at the clubs, giving them a chance to express their feelings or just have a chat and make sense of their situation.

We can also give advice to the family about other services in Barnet that can help them.
