Some services for adult carers are likely to change over the next few months subject to changes in arrangements between Barnet Council and the Carers Centre.   The majority of services however will be unaffected.  Updates on any changes to services will be provided on this web site to ensure that web site users are kept informed.  The Centre’s summer newsletter, due to be despatched in early June will also provide an update.  For specific information on specific services, please call the Centre on 0208 343 9698

The Adult Carers Support Team at BCC supports Carers from a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures and caring roles.

We provide help and support not only to Carers who are dealing with the more common problems such as Cancer, Dementia and Stroke but also a wide range of illnesses and disabilities such as HIV, Bipolar, Depression, Sickle Cell and many more. We try to tailor our support to the needs of the individual Carer and their family as no two cases are ever the same.

Our monthly Support Groups help Carers in the areas of Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, Multicultural, Physical and Sensory Impairment and Older Carers. We invite speakers from a wide range of organisations to talk at our support groups such as, Disability Action in Barnet, Arthritis Care, Barnet Alzheimers Society as well as the Carers Nurse, the Police, London Fire Brigade and other health and social professionals. Over the next 3 years the council expects to have 25% less to spend on services than they do this year. They would like your ideas on how they can provide quality services on this reduced budget. They have developed an ideas website for you to submit your ideas. http://ideas.barnet.gov.uk.
